Carnival Corp. Details Restart Plans, 52% Total Capacity Sailing by Fall

After the deadly fire that destroyed the Carnival Triumph in April, the cruise line has provided new details on the progress of its repairs and restoration efforts. Carnival Corp. has announced a new target completion date of September 30 and has also provided an update on the extent of the damage.

In 2011, Carnival Corporation and PLC (NYSE:CCL) announced in the fall that the world’s largest cruise ship operator planned to launch a series of new vessels in the Caribbean-based fleet beginning in early 2015. The company also said that it planned to increase the capacity of the fleet by 52% by the time the new ships are ready for service.

Carnival Corp. reported strong second-quarter earnings and outlined a plan to return to profitability in the near future. The company’s adjusted net income of $753 million, or $1.67 a share, was up from $450 million, or $1.18 a share, a year earlier. That was more than double the $351 million, or $1.01 a share, it earned in the first quarter. But Carnival’s net revenue fell short of expectations. Passenger revenue fell 2.5% to $1.39 billion. Brands uses a phased approach to restore its services. So far, 42 ships have been announced by the end of November. This represents 52% of the total capacity of the company’s 91 cruise ship fleet worldwide.

Here are the latest announcements from the company’s relaunch:

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line has announced that it will resume operations on eight ships by the end of August, including cruises from Galveston, Miami, Port Canaveral, Long Beach and Seattle. Also on the program is the company’s newest and largest ship, the Mardi Gras, which will depart on the 31st. July from Port Canaveral.

Princess Cruises

Princess is expected to resume flights to Alaska and a series of cruises around the United Kingdom in July, and from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale starting in September.

Holland America Line

Holland America is offering guests cruises to Alaska again in July, followed by cruises from Greece in August and Italy and Spain in September.

In addition, the cruise line will again offer cruises to Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean and the California coast this fall.

Seabourn

Seabourn is expected to resume flights from Greece and Barbados in July and begin its Antarctic season in November.

Cunard

Cunard will offer a series of cruises along the British coast from July, followed by trips to the Iberian coast and Canary Islands. The Queen Mary 2 will return to service in November, making transatlantic crossings and Caribbean cruises.

P&O Cruises

This summer, P&O is offering a series of coastal cruises in the UK from June, and then on the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts from September.

It is not strange for people people relocating to Greece from UK or other countries. Be it temporary or permanently, they do that! Some of them like what they see during the cruise and they decide to spend some more time in this beautiful Mediterranean country.

Costa Cruises

Costa Cruises resumed operations in May with trips to Italy and Greece and is now offering cruises to France and Spain in July. In September, the company will add cruises with stops in Portugal and Turkey.

AIDA Cruises

AIDA resumes its cruises to the Canary Islands in March and to Greece and Germany in May. The airline is now offering additional flights from Germany, as well as cruises to Spain, Italy, Portugal and Malta from July. Golf courses will also be added in November.

These flights follow the recent resumption of cruises by AIDA and Costa Cruises, which have been operating in Europe since March and May respectively.
