by Gary Leff on June 13, 2024 I receive compensation for content and many links on this blog. Citibank is an advertising partner of this site, as is American Express, Chase, Barclays and Capital One. Any opinions expressed in this post are my own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by my advertising partners. I do not write about all credit cards that are available — instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same). Terms apply to the offers and benefits listed on this page. This is insane. Chase has increased the initial offer for the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card to 100,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. This is one of the best card deals I’ve ever seen.

  • It’s a 100,000 point bonus offer
  • These are some of the most valuable points (along with American Express Membership Rewards)
  • They can be used to buy travel directly, or to offset spending with Chase’s “Pay Yourself Back” at 1.25 cents apiece – so worth a minimum of $1250
  • Or they can be transferred to airline miles (such as United, Southwest, Singapore, Air France) or hotel points (Hyatt, Marriott, IHG).

So how do you know if you are eligible for this card, and to earn its bonus? Here are the key considerations:

  • You cannot be a current Sapphire cardmember – not only can’t you have a current Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card you also cannot have another Sapphire card open either.
  • It needs to be at least 48 months since you last earned a bonus from a Sapphire card. If, for instance, you earned a 100,000 point bonus for a Sapphire Reserve card when it first came out and don’t have a Sapphire card any longer you’d qualify under this standard.
  • You need to be under 5/24. Chase generally won’t approve new cardmembers who have had five or more new card accounts opened in the past 24 months. Generally speaking only cards that appear on your personal credit report count towards this total, so many small business cards do not get included in your ‘5/24’ total.

Meeting these rules mean you’re eligible to have your application considered. They don’t guarantee approval of course, that depends on income, credit score, and other factors. But anecdotally the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card has appeared to be easier to get approved for than many other rewards cards, especially compared to Sapphire Reserve. (Among other reasons the Preferred a Visa Signature rather than Reserve’s Visa Infinite.) CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® Earn 65,000 AAdvantage miles.

Chase introduced the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card late last year with a 100,000 point sign up bonus offer. But what if you have bad credit? Or what if you’re doing everything right and you happen to qualify for the bonus but Chase decides not to send it after you apply? Chase Sapphire Preferred 100,000 Point Bonuses are fairly rare and it’s very easy to miss out. The best way to ensure you’re eligible is by checking each card’s credit scoring requirements before applying. Unfortunately, there isn’t a single formula that determines eligibility for the Sapphire Preferred. They’re a little bit more complex than that.. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get Chase Sapphire Preferred bonus again?

Chase Sapphire Preferred is a very popular travel rewards card, and one of the best. It has a $0 annual fee, it earns 5x points on travel and dining, and for the past few years has been offering 100,000 point bonus for spending $4,000 in the first three months. With a $95 annual fee, Chase Sapphire Preferred is the perfect companion for anyone looking to rack up hotel and flight points.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred is a great card to have, if you qualify. The 100,000 point sign up bonus is a fantastic value, and similar cards like the Chase Ink Plus (50,000) and Chase Ink Bold (50,000) aren’t always as generous and require getting a lower bonus number to qualify. The Chase Sapphire Preferred doesn’t have any annual fees, and has no foreign transaction fees when traveling abroad. If you’re thinking about applying for the card, you’ll want to know the answer to two questions:

Can you get Sapphire Preferred bonus twice?

Chase Sapphire Preferred usually comes with a 100,000 point sign-up bonus as long as the card holder spends $4,000 within the first three months of opening the card. This makes it one of the best travel credit cards. But the good news is that there is another 100,000 point sign-up bonus if you’re a current card holder.

Chase Sapphire Preferred is a great card if you spend a lot on travel. If you spend more than $24,000 in a calendar year, you’ll get 100,000 points and it’s possible to earn an additional 20,000 points per year with the card. But even if you spend less than $24,000 a year, you can still earn an additional 5,000 points by adding a Chase Sapphire Preferred card to your wallet (the annual fee is waived the first year).

What can you get with 80000 Chase Sapphire points?

The Chase Sapphire Preferred card gives you 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 in the first three months. That’s enough to get a free night at a hotel, or $500 at Amazon.com. And if you add another card to your wallet, you could get an even bigger bonus. The Chase Sapphire Reserve gives you 70,000 Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 on the card in your first three months.

Even if you don’t have a credit card from Chase, you can still enjoy an easy way to earn up to 100,000 points with the Chase Sapphire Preferred. And because the card is co-branded, you’ll be able to earn the full 100,000 points in just four quarters. So, if you’re an existing Chase cardholder, you can be eligible for the bonus right away.
