Big news from Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCCL) can hardly be kept under wraps, and the news is no exception. The cruising line, which is based in Miami, announced today that it will receive its six newest ships from shipyards in St. John’s, Newfoundland in July and August this year.
As we all know, the cruising world is very competitive. Over the past decade, there have been many new cruise lines that have emerged to challenge the more established lines. One big factor in this competition, aside from price, is the speed of service. So, it’s no surprise that Royal Caribbean is planning to restart their fleet of ships from the US in July and August this year. That’s right: not only are they bringing back their flagship, the Allure of the Seas, but they’re also planning to launch five new ships from other ports.
Royal Caribbean announced today that two of its ships will be restarts in July and August from the US, after being taken out of service at the end of last year for maintenance. The Anthem of the Seas and the Radiance of the Seas were built in 2004 and 2005 respectively. The ships will be repaired and returned to service.

Return of US ports
We already know that Carnival Cruise Line plans to return in July, and now Royal Caribbean is planning the same. The cruise line will be launched with six cruise ships in Florida and Texas, US. It all starts with the Freedom of the Seas on the 2nd. July from Miami, Florida. The ship will make a special trip over the Fourth of July weekend, which follows the simulated ship trip that the CDC recently approved for late June. - Serenade of the Seas – 7-night Alaska voyage from Seattle, departing on the 19th. July
- Allure of the Seas – 7-night Eastern Caribbean and Western Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral, departing on the 8th. August.
- Ovation of the Seas – 7-night Alaska itineraries from Seattle, departing on the 13th. August
- Symphony of the Seas – 7-night Eastern Caribbean and Western Caribbean cruises from Miami starting at $14. August.
- Independence of the Seas* is a 7-night voyage to the Western Caribbean departing from Galveston, Texas on the 15th. The month of August begins.
- Mariner of the Seas – 3 and 4-night flights to the Bahamas and Perfect Day at CocoCay from Port Canaveral, departing on the 23rd. August.
Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship will also resume operations in Europe. The Harmony of the Seas sails from the 15th. Mediterranean itineraries in August with stops in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and Provence, France. We also already know that the Adventure of the Seas will sail starting on the 12th. The month of June will begin in Nassau, Bahamas. Jewel of the Seas will begin cruises from Cyprus in July and Anthem of the Seas will also begin cruises from the United Kingdom in July. All Royal Caribbean crew members are fully vaccinated at the beginning of their cruises.
Bailey has already said that more than half of the fleet’s crew has been vaccinated. The cruise line seems to have divided the situation between fully vaccinated guests and those who are not. However, for those who have not yet been fully vaccinated, stricter medical measures are being taken. Is Royal Caribbean reopening?
In a shocker of a posting, Royal Caribbean announced on January 15th that all five of its cruise ships will be back in service by July and August. This will include the “Freedom”, “Jewel”, “Independence”, “Empress” and “Mariner”.
